Life Insurance Cancellation Due To Lack of Response To Records Request Form

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My wife and I are elderly and are applying for life insurance from a different life insurance company. We filled out the Novant Records Request Form and sent it to Novant and they sent us a receipt that they had received it . They still have not sent it to our insurance agent for processing and now our life insurance has been cancelled. We don't know what to do but need help. We spoke with Tammy Hutchens and filled our the medical release form but they still won't help us by sending our records to our insurance agent.

Had the best care for a family member at Novant Health Huntersville. A special shout out to floor staff, Sade and Keisha. And the wonderful lab tech Rachel. All of your care and concern made me so much less anxious during this trying time. Thank you

Resolved: Contact information for Novant patient advocate

Updated by user Jan 02, 2024

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund. PissedConsumer went to bat for us and Novant called my wife and said that the charges were canceled. Thank you so much!.

Original review Jan 02, 2024
I have been searching and searching for contact information for Novant patient advocate, which seems to be nonexistent. I need to talk to them about an unauthorized wellness visit that was given to my wife by Novant NHMG in January that Medicare explicitly does not pay for in the first year of coverage, and her doctor, Latessa Spiers, failed to inform my wife that Medicare would not pay for this, and failed to provide her with an ABN so that my wife could make an informed choice about this service. They gave her no choice, and now is being hounded by Novant to pay $245 for the service. My wife has left several messages to Dr. Spiers and her staff on MyChart since November 11th, and not a single one has been answered by Dr. Spiers or her staff. I believe her patient rights have been violated.

Had surgery in July. Received bill in mid November. Insisted I pay now. Told them I would pay within 120days. Not acceptable to them.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
They took 4.5 months to send the bill, and they can't give me 3 months to pay in installments. I have talked with 4 different people to set it up, most said okay. But still get phone calls about payment due now. Last phone call: total due in February. Paid December, January. Should be able to make last payments February and March. Was told March is too late.

Resolved: Worst doctor visit of my life

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Nov 21, 2023

Rebilled as regular office visit. Was told person taking my call should have checked to see if I needed physical before making appointment.

Updated by user Nov 03, 2023

I will still use Novant but never again that particular office, Will never call to make an appointment again, use on line instead

Updated by user Nov 02, 2023

This took place at Novant Health Tanglewood not Womens care

Original review Nov 03, 2023
Called to make appointment to check up on some ongoing problems and Rx refill. Was told I was due for physical.

Physical was terrible and I left without getting the help I needed. Wasn't even offered a flu hot. Insurance denied coverage because I wasn't due for a physical. Office says the words "check up" and "physical" are the same in medical terms and that I should know this.

Want me to pay approximately $450 for a bad physical and I still have to go to another doctor to get the help I couldn't get there.

If you care about your health and your wallet, do not go there. They made me sicker instead of helping me to get better.

Insurance

Nine out of 10 times I have been to Novant health I get a bill. I have Medicare and also BCBS supplemental insurance. I endlessly call; the hospital billing blames Medicare and Medicare blames billing that they are coding inaccurately. One bill I continue to argue was sent to collections after 4 months. Currently an emergency room bill ( car wreck ) sent to me not Medicare. I continue to persevere; however it is an exhausting job and frustrating to pay so much for insurance then endlessly fight for them to cover the bills. I have called and left messages with Irene who I was told is the Medicare billing agent at the hospital. Today I called, spoke with 2 different people who then gave me a 3rd number not listed anywhere. Immediately went to voicemail and I left yet another message.

Improper Healthcare

Original review Aug 03, 2023

My aunt was sent to Novant on August 1, 2023, via ambulance d/t her b/p dropping at dialysis. I was at work and got the call and immediately headed to Novant.

Upon arriving to the hospital, I was taken down several halls where patients were lying on stretchers sick, begging for help and NOT being monitored. I entered my aunt's room to find her by herself and her b/p monitor was NOT even hooked up to her. I went to ask the nurse what was going on, only to be informed that my aunt was being discharged and that "her labs" had all come back great. Of course, her labs would be ok, NOT GREAT because she had just left dialysis.

My aunt was in pain, feeling awful, her legs were red and swollen, and she had a place on her heel that did not look well. My mother and I NEVER saw a doctor, at all. We had to filter ALL questions through a nurse to the doctor. I have worked in healthcare since I was 18 years old.

I realize that there is a nurse shortage, but there is NOT a doctor shortage. My mom ask the nurse to please have the doctor evaluate my aunts legs and her heel and his response through the nurse, I might add, was that it was NOT necessary. My aunt was discharged back home. On Wednesday, August 2, 2023 EMS had to be sent to my aunts home to pick her up and take her to Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, NC.

She was immediately admitted for severe cellulitis, and she may have to have her heel debrided and possibly worse. I am appalled at the lack of concern and care that was given to my aunt at Novant and the fact that she was just rushed out of there like she was a nobody. For the record, my aunt is a RN.

This place is not the place to take ANY of your family or friends. She was seen at Novant ER in WIlmington, NC but I was only allowed to choose the Charlotte location.

Terrible communication

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Novant relies on their automated services and treats patients like an item on a checklist. It's hard to get a hold of someone for a question. They'd rather automate a response. It's impossible to get an appointment and if you need a ride and your ride ends up having a conflict they will refuse service to you without any regard to disability, transportation problems, difficulty scheduling. It's just a money making enterprise feeding off sick people.

Complement an employee

I could not get in touch with a person. I just wanted to compliment an employee in billing. I received a bill and had called before. For some reason, physical therapy had wrong numbers on my Tricare for life insurance. I had called with correct information and only one visit had been refilled. I spoke with Erica just a few minutes ago. She was very helpful, immediately understood the situation and said she would have it corrected. She was friendly and professional and I enjoyed speaking with her. She deserves an at-a-girl!
